Welcome to the University Centre for Academic English. We provide a wide range of courses and services to the whole of The University of Manchester.

At the University Centre for Academic English, languages are our speciality, and we have decades of experience and expertise that you can benefit from when you study with us.

We have approximately 2,000 students studying our full-time academic English language courses each year, from all over the world.

Our English Language courses are accredited by The British Council and our Pre-sessional courses are also accredited by British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP).

According to the EL Gazette University Language Centre rankings from 2019-2025, we are proud to be recognised as the joint #1 University Language Centre in the UK for the last six years.

We are immensely proud of this fabulous achievement – an achievement which reflects everyone’s’ ambition, hard work and dedication.
